I’ve got the score of the century today, its a mid noughties chrome and tempered glass laptop table. I saw it outside a charity shop and I instantly imagined it inside the back of the Rav 4. It is 5kg, so that’s why I say its from the mid 2000’s and not some modern day table that you’d find on Amazon. The shipping costs would be too much to send this thing from the Amazon warehouse. This thing is probably only going to be found at a charity shop or a car boot sale, possibly Facebook marketplace as well.
This table fits so nicely into the back of the Rav, its a perfect fit really. You can have it behind the drivers side and get a full size laptop on it and a mouse pad and mouse. Your arm actually sits inside the door handle as a arm rest so you could type for hours on this thing.
Its got several other uses as well, you can put it in the back of the Rav, in the boot section and use it as a standing desk! Do you know how much standing desks cost?! They cost a pretty penny, take a look at this one on Amazon.
The other great use for it is outside as a cooking and eating surface and a table for eating at or even for working outside with your laptop if the weather permits.
I’m so happy with this little table, its better than a lot of things you can find online as the materials out there used these days are basically kept light so that the shipping costs are lower, that’s what’s changed from the mid 2000s I guess. With a lot of stuff coming from China, transport is a major concern.
This table is the kind of thing that you’d find in a caravan or yuppie apartment, not normally in a van life set up, but I think its going to work really well! I’ll let you know how I get on with this and any extra uses I come up with for it.
