Ok if you are in a camper van like I am and its 2am and you need to go right now (well I am getting on a bit, it happens) then you need your piss bottle don’t you.

Well this is what I’m thinking of using, its my current water bottle. I’ve had it for about a year, and its been a solid buy, its got that nice handle on it, and it must carry almost a litre of water, in fact I can see on the side that it does, it says 1100ml and there is a bit of space at the top for more. So its going to take OVER a litre of water or whatever you choose to put in it!
Now if you are thinking about how much volume you are gonna need to handle your waste, then lets talk figures. If you are drinking a litre of water, then will a litre come out? I don’t think it will, you are going to sweat some of that water out depending on what you are doing and how hot it is. The daily figures are between 800ml and 2000ml, so I think I’m going to start off with this to see if it will fit my needs. I am a guy who is 65kg and 168cm, I do like to drink a lot off coffee, and that makes you go to the toilet a lot more often I’ve heard as it acts as a diuretic. I have to take the coffee consumption into account here as well. I will be updating this post to let you know how I got on, your millage may vary with how much volume you’ll need.
Ok, so now lets talk girth! I know its not the motion in the ocean, its all about what youve been given to what you have to work with, and i’ve not been given this water bottle, I had to buy it, but thats not whats on my mind. I think you need a decent width when you are thinking of one of these bottles. Lets see what im working with…

Look at that wide boy, its built for the job. This thing is going to fit a can of deodorant down it, that’s how wide it is. It will easily fit many taps out there in gyms or water fountains, so its definitely adaptable to many sizes of inputs. I think its going to be suitable for the job.
The only thing I’m thinking about is how I’m actually going to use it. Now if I’m standing up, then this will not be a problem at all, I can quite naturally use this thing as I’ll be able to use one hand for the handle and the other for… well you know what I’ll be using my other hand for, its perfect in this scenario. The only worry I have is thinking about other configurations, maybe when I’m lying down in bed. It might just work providing that I have a light source to quickly flick on so that I can see what I’m doing. I need a little bed side LED light which I can quickly flick on and off.
I’m going to test this bottle out in the field first and try it in a few different configurations such as sitting down in the vehicle, lying down and kneeling down as well. It might be that I have to get a different shape bottle but time will tell.
I am a bit concerned about it being transparent though, imagine people seeing me carrying this at a campground to the waste area! Its not gonna work, they will be sat there enjoying their breakfasts and I’ll be walking past them with a litre of something which does not entirely look like water and they will choke on their cereal. I’m going to have to put this in a bag when I am emptying it or some kind of a water bottle cover.
I think my plan though will be to just take it to the gym, already full of pee and have it in my gym bag, go straight to the shower and toilet cubicle and pour it down the toilet. I know its not a pretty image, but this is the campervan life and its not always pretty. The key is having it in a bag so people don’t see you carrying the bottle itself as you’d never be able to pass it off as a drink, and why would you be taking a drink into the shower anyway?
Ok guys, I’ll be updating this post to let you know how I got on, I’m sure you cant wait to find out.
